Frequently asked questions…

Do you carry insurance, and why does it matter?

Yes- full coverage. We carry $1 million in general liability and workers’ compensation for every single employee. If a company tells you they’re “insured” but can’t instantly email you a certification, walk away. An uninsured or under-insured crew could potentially drop a tree on your house, garage, or truck, or one of their guys gets hurt on your property- you could be the one paying for it. But at Crosscut Tree Services, we protect you, and we protect ourselves.

How much does it cost to cut down a tree?

No one-size-fits-all prices because it depends on the tree’s size, location, health, and how much gear we need (climbing, ropes, lifts, cranes, etc.) But here’s a ballpark for Kingsport-area jobs for 2025:

  • Small tree (under 30ft, easy drop in yard): $200-$600

  • Medium tree (30ft -60ft, some climbing or rigging near house): $600-$1,500

  • Large tree (60ft-80ft, high risk like over roofs or wires): $1,200-$3,000

  • Extra-large or hazardous trees (80ft+, storm-damaged, cranes required): $2,500-$8,000+

We always do a free on-site quote — I’ll walk the property, explain the risks, and lock in a fair, written price with no hidden fees. If it’s an emergency storm job, expect 20-50% more due to urgency and crew overtime. And yes, we beat shady lowballers who skimp on insurance or leave a mess.
