Tree Service in Kingsport, TN
Experienced arborists serving all of Kingsport — honest pricing, full cleanup, fast response.
I'm Terry Phillips, owner of Crosscut Tree Services, and Kingsport is a major part of my service area. I've worked in Kingsport's older established neighborhoods where the hardwoods have been growing for 60 or 70 years, out in the newer subdivisions along Fort Henry Drive and beyond, and plenty of spots in between. If you've got a tree that needs to come down, needs trimming, or came down in a storm last night, call me at (423) 946-7690. I'll come out, take a look, and give you a straight answer and a straight price.
Tree Work in Kingsport Has Its Own Considerations
Kingsport was a planned city from the start, and that history shows up in the trees. The older neighborhoods — Allandale, Borden Park, the streets around Church Circle — have some of the most mature tree canopy in the Tri-Cities. Those trees are beautiful, but they're also large, established, and in many cases close to homes and infrastructure that's equally old. That combination creates work that requires care and experience, not just a chainsaw and a truck.
Mature Hardwoods in Tight Spaces
Kingsport's established residential neighborhoods have full-grown oaks, maples, and tulip poplars that have been there since the neighborhoods were built. When one of those trees starts declining or becomes a hazard, removing it safely — without taking out a fence, a roof, or a neighbor's property — takes real planning. These aren't open-field removals.
Sycamores and Cottonwoods Near the Holston
Properties near the North Fork of the Holston River and the lower-lying areas of the city tend to have sycamores, cottonwoods, and silver maples — fast-growing species that can develop structural problems faster than slower-growing hardwoods. These trees look solid until they don't, and large limb failures from these species are something I see regularly after storms.
Uniform Street Plantings Aging Together
Because Kingsport was planned, many neighborhoods have the same species planted along the same streets at the same time. When those trees reach the end of their lifespan, they tend to start declining around the same time. If your neighbors are having tree work done, it may be worth having your trees looked at too.
Ice and Wind Loading
Same as the rest of Northeast Tennessee — ice storms are a real factor here. Kingsport's older neighborhoods have a lot of canopy coverage, which means more surface area for ice to accumulate and more limbs at risk during a bad winter event. We respond to storm calls throughout Kingsport regularly.

Why Kingsport Homeowners Call Crosscut
Experience with Large, Established Trees
The trees in Kingsport's older neighborhoods aren't small. Working on a 70-year-old white oak 15 feet from a house is a different job than clearing brush, and it requires someone who has actually done it. I have, more times than I can count.
Locally Based, Not a Franchise
I live and work in the Tri-Cities. My reputation here matters to me personally. When you hire Crosscut, you're hiring me — not a crew dispatched from a call center somewhere else.
Straight Pricing, No Surprises
I quote what the job is worth based on what I actually see. If something changes once we're working, I tell you before the invoice does.
We Leave It Clean
Full debris removal on every job. We rake, blow, and haul before we leave. Your yard should look better when we're done, not like a work site.
We Answer the Phone
Sounds like a low bar, but a lot of contractors don't. Call (423) 946-7690 and you'll get me or a fast callback — not a voicemail that sits for three days.
What Our Customers Say
"Terry did a wonderful job. Took down a huge poplar tree that was hollow. It was on a steep hill next to power lines. Not an easy job. Cleaned up very nicely. Highly recommend."
